DEBUT RALLY ‘Carrera Iberia 2019’ IS FULLY BOOKED

This year’s evocatively titled ‘Carrera Iberia’ in October will mark our debut, and we are really looking forward to sharing our first rally adventure with our members.   This rally was fully booked within weeks of launch and all 30 teams are now looking forward to some of the finest driving possible in Spain and Portugal. Deserted country roads, race circuits and historic hotels are all on the menu. If you are sorry you missed out, the waiting list is open.

“There’ll be exclusive experiences on our 2019 Carrera Iberia rally, including more than one chance to test your nerve and skill on World Class race tracks”

Rally Director Fred Gallagher, with rallying mate Graham Rood, landed in Santander in September 2018 to start their recce from the picturesque Bay of Biscay. “We found some tremendous driving roads and a number of exciting race tracks on which to hold tests” said Fred.

“We’ve booked top notch accommodation along the way, in iconic ‘one of a kind’ 5* hotels many of which are in historic buildings.” Fred concluded.

Highlights planned include:

Driving through some of Rioja’s 63,593 hectares of vineyards with a chance to taste Spain’s flagship red wines at the end of Day 1… start as we plan to continue!

Overnight stays in fascinating medieval cities, such as Alcaniz which clings to the river Guadalope, taking us on steep roads that test our driving, rewarding us with amazing views and stunning accommodation when we arrive.

Some long spectacular, traffic-free routes like this one along the Rio Leza with some twisty and deserted regularities promised. Fred Gallagher says “Some will adore the long and twisty mountain section, others will be delighted when it’s over. All will remember!”

A rest day at this stunning manor house, set high on a hill overlooking the vine covered rolling hills of the Douro Valley and the river below. We suspect that the hotel’s Wine Library, where bottles replace books, will be busy when we arrive!

Rally the Globe’s first gala prize-giving dinner in the Conrad Hotel, Quinta do Lago near Faro.
